Lily the Mother Goat Hi, I’m Lily the Mother Goat. Please follow/like myInstagram and Facebook pages.
Lily The Mother Goat was an ambassador of vegan love. Rescued from the cruel dairy industry, this is her story….
Lily The Mother Goat passed into the next world on August 1. She lived three years and five months at Anthea Larke’s house as a house goat. Lily had previously been exploited for her milk in the goat dairy industry (her babies taken away and killed) and when she
was discarded at the slaughterhouse she had trouble keeping on her weight. Lily was rescued from a kill pen in March 2016 from the Milton Halal slaughterhouse by Toronto Pig Save activists after they attended a pre-trial course session for the Pig Trial.
This is how The Toronto Starreported on Lily’s rescue and her lifeback in 2016: Activists “saw the usual slaughterhouse horrors — terrified animals being prodded into the killing room, bloody carcasses swinging from hooks.
But they also saw a shivering nanny goat waiting to be killed. And they asked that she be spared. To their delight, the manager agreed. He handed over the goat. He even named her Lily.”
Lily was always very social and loving.
Here Lily’s kissing Mishel the dog. This was in June during a visit with our friends from Extinction Rebellion Toronto, Extinction Rebellion and Climate Save Movement.
“Today I know that Lily is free of pain and suffering. Also am no longer angry with the people who abused her body to the point that it compromised her health long term. Today i feel sorry for them. They had Lily in their lives for much longer than we did, but they were too blind to see her, their hearts too closed to experience who she was, her kindness, gentleness and strength. I know so many of these people who see Lily and others as ‘just a goat ‘. They miss out on so much love.” – Anthea Larke
Please go vegan and stand up for animal liberation. Plant an apple tree in memory of Lily and share the apples with our animal friends!
The Animal and Climate Save Movements are basing their new approach on Extinction Rebellion tactics and the book This is an Uprising — a must read book on the tools on how to achieve success soonest possible.
Animal Rights 2019 National ConferenceThe Save Movement was in Washington, D.C. for Farm Animal Rights Movement (FARM) & Compassion Over Killing’s Animal Rights 2019 National Conference, which ran July 25 – 28.
Anita Krajnc presented with NEAVS organizer Amy Mayer on momentum organizing based on Mark Engler & Paul Engler’s incredible book This is an Uprising. It’s a must-read book for activists because it provide the best tools for achieving social change quickly and we are running out of time for the animals and global environment.
The Save Movement activists joined Washington DC Animal Save on July 29 as 30 activists bore witness at a Tyson chicken slaughterhouse near Richmond, Virginia. Please watch.
They also joined NY Farmed Animal Save for a special vigil at Charles River Laboratories on July 31. “A beautiful neighbourhood where no one suspects the horror that is going on in those buildings behind the gates.”
Media & art from the conference:
“The Invisible Vegan” is a 90-minute independent documentary by Kenny & Jasmine Leyva that explores the problem of unhealthy dietary patterns in the African-American community, foregrounding the health and wellness possibilities enabled by plant-based vegan diets and lifestyle choices.

Our mission: The Climate Save Movement is a worldwide network of climate action groups aiming to end animal agriculture and transition to a just and vegan, plant-based food system, reforest the Earth and phase out fossil fuels to address the climate emergency.
Animal agriculture is a key source of greenhouse gas emissions, which can all be eliminated entirely. It is also the leading source of ocean dead zones, deforestation, mass species extinction, and excessive water use. Veganism and reforestation are critical parts of climate actions and, along with eliminating fossil fuels, are our last hope against catastrophic tipping points for our climate.

Bee Save Movement has been launched as part of Climate Save Movement, with the goal of protecting some of the smallest beings we share this planet with and help solve the climate crisis by helping the bees survive. Animal agriculture is a key source of pesticides, which are one of the main reasons bees are going extinct. Veganism is a critical part of important actions for the bees and our future.

What If The Amazon Rainforest Disappears? The Climate Save Movement mobilized actions at embassy and complicit restaurant chain locations in 39 cities in 17 countries to protest catastrophic Amazon deforestation (see list on our event page). The actions were to raise awareness of the worst Amazon deforestation on record this past May and June 2019. The Brazilian government in conjunction with animal feed companies like Cargill is turning the Amazon rainforests into meat burgers and steaks. “The Amazon rainforest is being destroyed at a devastating rate of three football fields per minute. What if the Amazon rainforest disappears? At a time of climate chaos and governments declaring climate emergencies, we should be reforesting the Earth. To do this we need to end animal agriculture, a driver of deforestation and wasteful use of land, water and fossil fuels,” said Anita Krajnc, Toronto Climate Save organizer. “We are mobilizing monthly August 8 (8/8), 9/9, 10/10, 11/11 and 12/12. What if we end animal agriculture? As a leading force in animal exploitation, mass species extinction and genocide of indigenous peoples, we have the power to stop animal agriculture by transitioning to just, plant based food systems.” Watch video from our 7/7 event here.

Vancouver Chicken Save: “Today we joined the Climate Save Movement in bringing awareness to the masses about the connection between animal agriculture and the climate crisis.”
GAMBIA Climate Save Gambia: “A die-in chalkivism action to save the Amazon rainforest. Be the change, not the cause of Amazon rainforest destruction. Boycott Cargill and stop Bolsanaro from industrializing the Amazon. Remember we only have one home, that is planet Earth.”
GERMANY Climate Save Ingolstadt: “we had our first event and did some chalking to raise awareness on the devastating effects animal agriculture has on our planet. Many people stood by, watched, took photos and asked questions about the topic.”
“We did some chalktivism yesterday with Climate Save Slovakia in front of the worst company as Mighty Earth report states, responsible for massive deforestation of Amazon rainforest. We need to stop president Bolsonaro and Cargill because if the Amazon rainforest dies, we all die. ” – @zuzana_fortheanimals
According to The Guardian: Bolsonaro declares ‘the Amazon is ours’ and calls deforestation data ‘lies’. Far-right president said Brazil is open to partnerships exploiting biodiversity and mining in a conversation with journalists. He even questioned recent satellite data from the government’s National Space Research Institute (INPE) that indicated a dramatic rise in deforestation in May and June. “I am convinced the data is a lie. We are going to call the president of INPE here to talk about this and that’s the end of that issue,” he said.

Maple Leaf Foods: Poised To Profit from the Plant-Based Protein Shift
This article by SeekingAlpha.com explains how Maple Leaf “Foods” stands to gain from their investments in plant-based food products: Maple Leaf Foods: Poised To Profit from the Plant-Based Protein Shift
“Unlike BYND, which is relying on manufacturers, which it does not even have formal manufacturing agreements with, MLFNF will not only have its own manufacturing facilities but also will have the largest in North America. MLFNF’s plant-based facility will be a $310 million plant that will be located in Shelbyville, Indiana and will be operational by late 2020.”
Given this assessment, our position is clear: Maple Leaf should abandon all efforts to expand their animal exploitation business and instead shift completely to plant-based products.
Health Save Movement aims to show how veganism can prevent and reverse diseases related to animal products consumption, enhance food justice, and decrease spending on the health crisis.

According to this new study by Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health: Following a healthy plant-based diet may lower type 2 diabetes risk, “Plant-based dietary patterns are gaining popularity in recent years, so we thought it was crucial to quantify their overall association with diabetes risk, particularly since these diets can vary substantially in terms of their food composition,” said first author Frank Qian, who conducted the research as a masters student in the Department of Nutrition.
Shepparton Animal Save held their first vigil on July 20 at the Benalla Abattoir. They report: “We witnessed an overcrowded pen of poor, sweltering, dehydrated sheep, with no access to shade or water. Some sheep were in a very distressed way, coughing and panting. Others were climbing over the top of each other. When we aired our concerns to the owners of the abattoir, we were told to ‘mind our own business,’ followed by laughter and smirking. We will be back.”

Montevideo Animal Save organizer Vanessa shares why she bears witness: “”I attend vigils from the beginning, in 2017, when no one understood what we were doing or what we would face. I was already a vegan and I was an activist since before. I already knew the importance of anti-speciesism and could explain it in detail why talking about justice necessarily included veganism. I understood everything, or at least that was what I believed, until I faced a truck. It was the truck, at least 35 cows and me. The situation hit me like a wave of cold water on my face and it squeezed my heart. I knew a lot, but in the eyes of those animals I did not know anything. I felt the greatest sadness, but I also learned to feel something in a deeper way: love.”

Activists enter Fearmans slaughterhouse to give water to pigs suffering in extreme heat
Toronto Pig Save held an emergency vigil for the pigs on Friday July 19, the hottest day of the year so far. Activists rushed into Fearmans slaughterhouse in the midst of a massive heatwave. Upon arrival, the activists found dehydrated and exhausted pigs inside idling transport trucks and were there to bear witness to their suffering and offer water to the desperate pigs. They also found a child being ordered to electrocute pigs off of the truck and into the slaughterhouse.
Watch: Activists rush in to give the pigs water.
Watch: Slaughter plant employees attacked activists as they tried to bear witness inside.

Modesto Animal Save bore witness at a vigil for pigs on July 9. They report: “Usually, we see truck drivers that are aggressive, nervous, hostile, confused, or ones that won’t even glance our way. But last night we were met with a driver that was more than willing to let us have the full 5 mins with the pigs. As he happily conversed with us, it was a strong reminder of the disconnect this man had with the animals he was transporting.”
Atlanta Animal Save report from their July 13 vigil: “Today we went to a chicken vigil at Tip Top ‘Poultry’. Thank you everyone who came out! The manager of the facility came out and took some of our literature! Next time we’ll ask him if he’ll help us stop a truck for us.”
