If you are traveling to Latin America there are many opportunities to get involved and help animals with Animal Save Movement. These inspiring chapters in Latin America are led by superhero activists who organize vigils, bear witness, facilitate vegan events, document animal stories, rescue animals whenever possible, and motivate others to become involved in animal rights activism.
Please consider funding us to support Animal Save Movement chapters around the world that bear witness to animals at the gates of slaughterhouses to help create diet changes. A generous donor will double your donations to the Animal Save Movement until the end of 2025, so your donation will go twice as far.
Keep reading to learn what these chapters in Latin America are up to and how you can get involved in 2025.
1. Perú

Lima Animal Save in Peru holds powerful animal vigils and bears witness to cows and pigs at a large slaughterhouse “to demonstrate the unmeasurable and cruel animal exploitation carried out against innocent beings.” They were involved in rescuing a chicken named Gabo from the pet trade, where she was cramped in a tiny cage and living among feces. But everything changed after her rescue, and she is now happy to feel the wind, earth, and sun on her wings. Gabo lives with one of the activists who adopted her and her cat siblings and even attended her own welcome party.
Lima Animal Save also spreads awareness about the Plant Based Treaty and the first vegan market in Lima, Jan Vegan Market. “Vegan Jan Vegan Market is also a space where 100% plant-based nutrition is spread through workshops, talks and activations.”
2. México

Hermosillo Animal Save in Mexico encourages everyone to attend their vigils and bear witness to animals that are going to be killed for human consumption. They host Save Squares to teach others about factory farming and spread the vegan message.
“A Save Square is a form of vegan outreach that involves participants standing in public places and holding screens that show videos of the truth of the animal agriculture industry and/or the climate emergency. Other activists then take the opportunity to talk to members of the public who are curious and stop to view the footage. This very powerful outreach tool has converted bystanders to veganism…” – Animal Save Movement
CDMX Animal Save in Mexico City bears witness to animals in transport trucks, such as chickens, cows, and pigs, so if you are in Mexico, there are multiple ways to get involved in the Save Movement with fellow activists.
3. Argentina

4. Colombia

Medellin Animal Save in Columbia holds many vigils for animals, including cows, at a cattle fair where activists offer love and compassion while bearing witness to their suffering. Their other activism includes Save Squares and a meaningful demonstration at this powerful event where activists dressed in clothing reminiscent of a slaughterhouse and showed videos on laptops to expose the truth of what goes on behind closed doors. They wrote, “For animals, terror and death are every day, and they have no way to escape that fate as long as humanity keeps looking the other way.”
Ayúdanos a detener este sistema que violenta a millones de animales, hazte vegan y únete a nuestras acciones.
Translation: Help us stop this system that violates millions of animals, become vegan and join our actions.
5. Uruguay

Montevideo Horse Save in Uruguay is doing wonderful work for animals, especially horses.
This successful chapter organizes vigils, investigations, rescues, and actions to raise awareness about the exploitation of horses, specifically horses used for transportation, riding, cargo, and blood farms. Azul Cardozo, co-organizer of Montevideo Horse Save, explains that they raise awareness for horses in many ways, such as denouncing blood farms, an extremely cruel practice in which blood is taken from pregnant mares to obtain the hormone PMSG (Equine Chorionic Gonadotropin).
“We also organized several downtown protests against horse blood farms, raising awareness about this cruel business. This is a horrendous practice where blood is taken from pregnant mares because it contains a special hormone, which is then sent to laboratories in Europe and used to stimulate estrus in pigs raised for human consumption.”
Most recently, for the AVA Summit / VegFest SP, they joined forces with the Plant Based Treaty to help drive positive change for animals and the earth. In a series of photos posted to Instagram, they wrote, “This movement in Latin America is stronger than ever because we understand that united, we are unstoppable.”
6. Chile

If you are traveling to Chile you have two great options to get involved and help animals. Santiago Animal Save in the capital region is working hard to raise awareness for animals with inspiring demonstrations such as a dramatic performance on a public road with volunteers dressed up as animals like cows and chickens to depict their lives at the slaughterhouse. Activists handed out literature and talked to passersby about the terror farmed animals face in captivity. Large posters of pigs on factory farms brought attention to the event and helped to inform and teach.
Meanwhile, activists with Valparaiso Animal Save marched for the rights of animals, holding signs and walking through the streets and made their voices loud and clear that the rodeo must end. During another demonstration in Chile, many organizations, including Animal Save Movement chapters, marched against patriotic and cruel traditions that depict violence against animals.
“Llamamos a reflexionar sobre nuestros privilegios y a ser mejores para los animales, el planeta y nuestra comunidad.”
Translation: We call on everyone to reflect on their privileges and to be better for animals, the planet and our community.
Don’t forget that a generous donor will double your donations to the Animal Save Movement until the end of 2025, so your donation will go twice as far for animals.
