The Save Movement Around the World – 29/01/18

CANADA

Toronto Cow Save held a special vigil for the cows on January 24 at Ryding-Regency slaughter plant, with LUSH Cosmetics UK joining the vigil to make a film about Toronto Pig Save and The Save Movement. We’re grateful to LUSH for all they do to raise awareness and to support activism.

Please watch video from the vigil: Scared and likely pregnant mothers who are in front of a killing facility and can’t even imagine how cruel men can be.

Thank you Kaiha and Tia for your compassion and activism. You hold the key to the future of the Earth.

Brampton Chicken Save held 4 vigils over the space of one week: January 19, 22, 24 and 26. They report:

“We were out at a main intersection here in Brampton, ON, right down the street from Canada’s largest chicken murdering facility, Maple Lodge. Maple Lodge prides itself in the fact that they use the flesh of “Ontario raised chickens” hm…well when we were there this morning we saw not one, but two trucks coming all the way from the state of New York. There are reasons these mass corporations put out lies – to make the consumer feel good, to keep consuming the consumers money because they know the world is changing, people care are are starting to open their eyes to the realities of Big Ag.”

“This vigil was a cold one but a great one! We love this location due to the high amounts of traffic. Activists Aisha and Rosie withstood the -12 temperatures for 2 HOURS to raise awareness for our chicken friends. Rosie brought vegan cookies to offer those passing by, truck drivers and employees. This was a great way to tell people they were made without harming others – we can live compassionate lives and still enjoy the food we eat! What is your favourite way to interact with the public during outreach and vigils? “

“We had a few new faces come join us this morning. Every voice counts! If you think we’re cold standing out here it’s definitely much colder for these baby chickens who travel on transport trucks for hours enduring winter’s harsh weather. 500,000 of these innocent beings are murdered here EACH DAY. This is North America’s largest chicken slaughterhouse. They go through immense suffering and need us to speak up for them. Thank you so much to everyone that came out! Be the change.”

Warsaw Animal Save held their first vigil on January 24. They report:
“The slaughterhouse stopped all transports and we didn’t get the chance to bear witness to the animals. We had to get the permit to hold the demonstration and we suspect that police informed the SH about our vigil. Nevertheless, we stood next to the slaughterhouse and silently protested against animal exploitation. There were around 20 activists at the vigil.”

Barcelona Animal Save held their latest vigil on January 21 at Frigorificos Costa Brava slaughter plant in Girona. They report:
“Last night we said goodbye to thousands of babies, coming in to be killed. Covered in feces and wounds, they spent hours and hours on trucks like that, without being able to move, with no water and no food.
Now they’re dead. They don’t have to die, you can change the reality that they live every day “

FIRST VIGIL
Scunthorpe Chicken Save held their very successful first vigil on January 25 at the 2 Sisters chicken slaughter plant.
A local newspaper published excellent coverage of the vigil: Animal lovers target Scunthorpe’s 2 Sisters chicken factory in demonstration

Please watch this video report:

Gloucestershire Animal Save held a vigil on January 25 at Cargill “Poultry” slaughter plant. They report:
“Thank you to everyone who came to our vigil today and stood up for the voiceless.
450,000 chickens are slaughtered a week at Cargill. Lorry loads of chickens are brought in with 6000 birds crammed into each one.
The air was drenched with sadness, these birds completely given up after what was probably the most distressing painful journey to the slaughterhouse. These birds are grabbed by their feet and thrown into these crates. Some were missing toes and bleeding from getting their wings and toes stuck in the tiny holes.
Are you brave enough to look into the face of your food? If you buy chicken you are funding this cruelty. Please consider that your personal choice to eat meat involves another living being. They do not want to die. Choose compassion and please leave animals off your plate “

Phoenix Animal Save is nearing their one-year anniversary. They report from their January 19 vigil:
“This past Friday was surreal. It’s almost been a year of Phoenix Animal Save’s existence. We had one of our more emotional vigils. We had activists from all over the state join us. It means so much to have so many compassionate people stand arm and arm for the animals. Power in numbers will always mean success for animal liberation.”

“After much trial and error, we were able to successfully bear witness last night. Please get active, the animals won’t be freed by complicity. Share this video with someone who says they can’t go vegan. Tell them to look into their eyes. They need our voices to amplify their cries. Thank you to everyone who came out last night. If you aren’t already active come see us at AZ Vegetarian Food Festival today.” Please watch:
