On June 20 London Chicken Save held and all-day vigil for the chickens. Organizer Abby McCuaig reports:
“Today we are holding an all day vigil for the chickens slaughtered in our area. We started the morning off at Cargill in London, Ontario where 80,000 chickens are killed every day. We stopped two trucks for two minutes while police aided us with safety. We said goodbye to every soul and told them they were loved.” Please watch:

On June 21 Melbourne Sheep Save and Melbourne Cow Save held another city vigil. These vigils are held on the corner of a busy intersection just outside the Melbourne Central Business District on the route the trucks take when they transport animals to slaughterhouses. In a 2 hour period, we saw 9 cow trucks and 2 sheep trucks. One of the trucks was particularly distressing to see as there was a cow highly stressed and thrashing about in one of the rear sections of the truck.
Our aim with these vigils is not to stop trucks, due to the business of the roads, but to bring to the awareness of the people passing by in cars, on foot or on bikes that there are animals being transported to a violent death right in front of them. It is too easy for people to go about their day with blinkers on – blocking out the reality of what is really happening on a daily basis. It is our aim to remove those blinkers.

On June 24 Melbourne Pig Save held another city rally where over 80 people attended to speak out for pigs. We hope many hearts and minds were changed after hearing and reading about the way pigs are used and abused in the food industry.

Welcome, Wittlich Pig Save. “Wittlich Pig Save is the first group of The Save Movement founded in Germany. We hold vigils for pigs that are being transported to slaughter. By holding these vigils and bearing witness, we want to spread awareness of what happens to thousands of animals everyday, usually hidden from our eyes.”

Crying Cows: Watch video by Save Movement Scotland:
“On a hot summer’s day when so many humans are enjoying the beautiful weather, these poor souls are melting, suffering, crying and waiting to be forced on the final journey in their pitiful lives.
But this can all end, and it’s not difficult at all. There are delicious alternatives for all the foods you are used to eating, they are better for you and no one had to lose their life. Please help these animals and let them enjoy a summer’s day like the rest of us.”

Orange County Animal Save saves one chicken at their vigil
Orange County Animal Save held their first vigil June 18, during which they saved a chicken. Activist Michael Fujimori reports:
“Orange County Animal Save organized a peaceful vigil in front of Baladi Poultry, a live poultry shop which kill chickens, ducks, turkeys, rabbits, quails and pigeons on site. We were able to rescue one precious soul. The owners eventually gave us one female chicken that will be living at a farm sanctuary in peace.”

“When the suffering of another creature causes you to feel pain, do not submit to the initial desire to flee from the suffering one, but on the contrary, come closer, as close as you can to her who suffers, and try to help her.” – Leo Tolstoy
