We spent few minutes with the animals offering them water and connecting with them.”

FIRST VIGIL

——————————–

UNITED KINGDOM

FIRST VIGIL
Colne Animal Save held their first vigil on August 14 at the Woodhead Bros. slaughter plant. They report:
“We visited this horrible death camp for the 3rd time today. We witnessed 9 trucks of piglets, 4 trucks/trailers of cows and 1 trailer of sheep, between the hours of 8:40 am – 1:00 pm.
None of the trucks stopped for us to say goodbye and we love you. If anything, they drove faster. It’s so hard because you have to do the total opposite of what your heart tells you to do and what is RIGHT – to save them.
We did have some much appreciated support, via thumbs up, verbal encouragement and a guy even pulled up and gave us some packs of Starburst, to keep us going
To all those innocent animals, who lost their lives today and did no wrong; we
are so, so sorry we could not save you. We will NEVER forget you and NEVER stop fighting “

Please watch: Norfolk Animal Save bears witness to innocent pigs as they arrive to be killed.

UNITED STATES

Welcome San Diego Animal Save. Find them on Facebook and Instagram.

Chino Cow Save had great attendance at their August 17 vigil at American “Beef” Packers:
“A whole Venezuelan family of about 8 people, visiting their relatives in San Diego (all vegan!!), took time out of their trip to join us today, so huge shoutout to them! “

The newly relaunched Providence Animal Save report from their first two protests on August 15 and 18 at The Washington County Fair:
“A small group of dedicated activists held strong for two hours in front of The Washington County Fair, standing for the animals being exploited in the name of ‘entertainment’ and profit.
We received more positive reactions than negative! Even people attending the fair cheered us on. It’s becoming more common, people practicing what we already know: animals should not suffer or be used for our greed and gluttony.”
From day number 2:
“What a massive success! The police were very friendly and helpful with us setting up, and the people driving by cheered as they passed.”

The protest made it on to the news in the Providence Journal:Animal cruelty or kindness? Conflicting views at Washington County Fair

OTHER SAVE CAMPAIGNS

Climate Vegan‘s core message is: Help save the planet by going vegan and becoming active.

Let’s mobilize to fight climate change
As the world heats up from human-caused climate change, record-setting fires rage across the planet.
The Independent: Meat and dairy companies are on track to be the world’s biggest contributors to climate change, outpacing even the fossil fuel industry, according to a new report.

The headlines tell us what’s happening, but not what to do about it.
The Save Movement is working to set up a Climate Vegan working group to produce a plan of action and to launch campaigns to address this most urgent of disasters. We will involve our 460+ chapters around the world. Climate change is happening and it is absolutely critical that we mobilize to fight it before it’s too late.
We need all the help we can get. Please join us!

The Climate Vegan plan of action could include campaigns such as:
1. Screenings of films such as Cowspiracy at universities and other fertile grounds.
2. Regular demonstrations such as the yearly Earth Day chalking and leafletting event.
3. Marches to draw the public’s attention
4. A long march such as Toronto to Ottawa (400 kilometers) to engage the political establishment
5. Reforestation programs
6. Advertising campaigns
7. Training program, including a guidebook

The vast majority of animals killed in the farming industry are still just babies.
How can we possibly justify killing babies just to eat their flesh?

Toronto Pig Save started in December 2010, with a promise to the pigs of doing a minimum of three vigils and vegan outreach events each week, all year round. We bear witness as a community of pigs, cows, chickens and other farmed animal victims in slaughterhouse trucks. The animals want us to be present and, with the most pleading eyes, ask for our help when we see them through the portholes of transport trucks. Just as if we were in those horrid trucks, we would want the whole community to be there fighting for our freedom, liberation, rights, and equality. In a way, we are there. All life is one and, “when (wo)men wish to harm others, they really do evil to themselves,” Leo Tolstoy said in his animal rights story “Esarhaddon, King of Assyria”. It’s our positive duty and obligation to act in the present to try to stop the most egregious injustices before us.

“When the suffering of another creature causes you to feel pain, do not submit to the initial desire to flee from the suffering one, but on the contrary, come closer, as close as you can to her who suffers, and try to help her.” – Leo Tolstoy
In seven years, The Save Movement has grown to over 460 Save groups around the world. Our dream is to have regular vigils at every slaughter plant worldwide. We regularly give seed money to new Save groups and require funds for literature, posters, subway ad campaigns (iVegan.ca) and vegan outreach events.
Make animal liberation your priority in life! Think of 10 kind things you can do each day and encourage your friends to do the same! Join us and participate in our weekly vigils, start a Save group in your community, and be a regular donor.
