From the organizers, the Ottawa Animal Defense League:
“A huge MERCI to all the marchers from Ottawa, Montreal, Toronto and elsewhere who made the time to March through Ottawa and descend on Parliament Hill to demand change for animals! We are extremely grateful to the Kebek Animal Rights Association (KARA) for organizing the travel of more than 100 marchers from Montreal to Ottawa for the Nation Capital’s 1st March to Close All Slaughterhouses! We will never forget your support! We were honoured that Anita Krajnc, Frédéric Côté-Boudreau, Samantha Shorkey, Julian Taylor-Patterson and Camille Labchuk chose to share their inspirational messages with the marchers! We applaud the volunteers at KARA and at the OADL who gave your time and effort to make this March a success! You are invisible heroes for the animals!”

We connected with vegan bands, even if we had to run after them! Thank you Seattle! Next stop: Salem, Oregon! #GetLoudForAnimals”

HWY 401 Farmed Animal Save bears witness to animals while they are being transported to auctions or slaughter plants. Activist Darlene Levecque shares her thoughts:
“This type of Save can be created in any country, and allows people to bear witness without the need to schedule a vigil. This is a love-based approach and if we engage in discussions with the drivers we must be respectful as per our philosophy – it’s about the animals, not the drivers. If anyone is interested in starting a group like this, I am willing to mentor and coach.”
Darlene bore witness and shared this video:
“A truckload of baby calves, the by-product of the dairy industry, being transported to slaughter as ‘veal’. They were full of sores and struggling to stay standing. It was absolutely heart-wrenching to witness these babies. These are the victims of our ‘personal choice’. Please be their voice and stand up against animal abuse, exploitation, and murder. Spread truth, peace, and compassion.”

Save Movement Bogota held their second vigil June 11 at San Martin slaughter plant (matadero). they report:
“Unfortunately the animals are like this and our impotence is very big and very frustrating. We must continue as activists trying to open the eyes of those who do not want to see injustice, cruelty and suffering by eating animals and supporting their death with the purchase.”

On June 18 Hong Kong Pig Save held their latest vigil near Tsuen Wan West Rail Station. They report:
“We incorporated VR (ConditionOne) into our vigil and it was absolutely AMAZING! We did FB Live for the first time too. Today was raining, not the best weather conditions, but we had 5 first-timers, one non-vegan.”
