Toronto Pig Save Family Day Vigil: the Truth will not Stay Hidden
Toronto Pig Save organizer Lori Croonen reports from Fearmans slaughter plant, where thousands of pigs are killed daily:
“Rather than letting the few thousand 4- to 6-month-ld frightened and exhausted pigs have 2 minutes of kindness and water, the truck drivers rather hide on the service road waiting for us to leave… so we did not.
These pigs are now in a holding area, because it is a public holiday in Ontario, Canada, there is nobody there today to kill them. These pigs will be there with the other thousands of pigs that came in yesterday. We heard their screams for help but we could not answer their call.
Tomorrow morning, the slaughterhouse workers will be on the kill floor and all these beautiful, innocent animals will be put into gas chambers, strung up by one leg while someone slits their throat.
Please be an activist for these defenceless animals. Tell their story, be their voice so they too can celebrate Family Day with their families.”

Please watch: activists offer scared, frightened pigs water and love – and singing:

Vancouver Chicken Save bears witness every Saturday morning. Please watch from their February 17 vigil: a particularly tough instance of animal abuse and torture.

Playa del Carmen Fish Save took to the streets on a silent walk to tell the public: fish are friends, not food. This is particularly important during Lent, a time when people tend to eat more sealife. Please watch:

THE NETHERLANDS

FIRST VIGIL
Apeldoorn Calf Save held their first vigil on February 14 at Ekro Apeldoorn slaughter plant, which kills about 1,000 calves everyday. Activist Dani Rosenkamp reports:
“Today we went to Apeldoorn to bear witness at the largest calf slaughterhouse in the world: Ekro. We didn’t see a lot of trucks, and we didn’t manage to fully stop them, but it was a successful day nonetheless. Many great activists showed up and the most important thing is that we were there: people could see us.
Furthermore, we were able to take some footage of other innocent beings on their way to slaughter at the pig slaughterhouse across the street. We even managed to hear the horrific screams of pigs in what was probably the gas chamber…
Thanks everyone for being there today, you are all amazing! We will continue to show our faces at all places of violence “

Hertfordshire Chicken Save report from their vigil at Bell Farm in Hemel Hempstead:
“Bearing witness to tens of thousands of innocent lives on their way to slaughter at just 42 days old. Babies trapped in adult bodies due to unnatural breeding and genetic tampering.
The only natural thing happening here is their suffering, which is both real and unimaginable.”

From Sheffield Animal Save:
“I am a living being.
I am worth more than a meal.
I want to live just like you.
I want to live with my family.
I did not want to die.
Be vegan and help save me.”

Greeley Cow Save held an outreach event and a vigil for the cows on February 17.

Houston Animal Save report from their February 19 vigil at Tai Hung Farm Poultry, where chickens, rabbits, ducks and quail are slaughtered each day:
“Today’s vigil was great. Thank you all for coming.
The trucks came as soon as we got there. You can see the chickens on top of each other with nowhere to move at all. The cages drift freely inside the truck compartment which causes stress and injuries to the chickens. On another positive note, the manager of one of the slaughterhouses told us he is trying to transform the slaughterhouse to another type of business that doesn’t involve killing innocent animals. The future is vegan.”

“When the suffering of another creature causes you to feel pain, do not submit to the initial desire to flee from the suffering one, but on the contrary, come closer, as close as you can to her who suffers, and try to help her.” – Leo Tolstoy
