The Save Movement Around the World – 17/7/17

Bearing witness to pigs being loaded onto full transport truck
Manitoba Animal Save bore witness to pigs in transport trucks at a gas station on Highway #1 West in Headingley, Manitoba, on July 10. They report:
“The truck was stopped at a gas station where it met another transport truck and more pigs were loaded onto the truck. The small pink pigs were extremely stressed and scared when the larger brown pigs were loaded onto the truck. The brown pigs were frothing at the mouth and gladly took water from activists. These pigs were on their way to slaughter in Brandon, Manitoba, at Maple Leaf Foods where 85,000 pigs a week are slaughtered. Please join Manitoba Animal Save and help us work to save these animals. No one deserves this fate. We are sorry, we are trying.”

On July 16 Melbourne Pig Save held a vigil at Diamond Valley Pork in Laverton. About 40 activists were able to stop 2 trucks to say goodbye to the pigs. Many pigs were highly distressed and screaming. Others were curious and just wanted a pat and comfort.

“When the suffering of another creature causes you to feel pain, do not submit to the initial desire to flee from the suffering one, but on the contrary, come closer, as close as you can to her who suffers, and try to help her.” – Leo Tolstoy
