London Chicken Save report from their January 2 vigil:
“Thank you to everyone who could make it to the event today. We saw one truck arrive at the slaughterhouse during our hours there. Continuing with our peaceful work with the drivers, he allowed us a moment to offer love to the animals – due to the conditions we only asked for less than a minute before they pulled into the facility. This use of our animal friends is wrong and we encourage everyone to adopt a plant based diet.”

Morelos Animal Save held their first vigil on December 30. They report:
“It was a heartbreaking experience, to enter a slaughterhouse, to smell and see blood everywhere, to see guts, heads, skin, the ‘box’ where they kill the animals. It is just like being in a concentration camp, only for pigs and cows instead of humans – the violence is the same, injustice applies equally.”

Murcia Animal Save held their first vigil on December 28. Please watch:

Ampthill Bird Save held their first vigil on January 3. They report:
“Today we held our first vigil in Ampthill outside of Leonard Ames. We were met with great hostility early on from the owner who informed us our ‘event was cancelled’ and we ‘can not be here.’ Unfortunately the truck was either delayed or cancelled so we were not able to bear witness today, but we did raise awareness to the many people passing by in their cars. The company had blocked the entrance to the road with one of their vans, and they also placed up new ‘Private Land’ signs to try and deter us from holding our event. Thank you to everyone who came to the event today and we hope to see you at the next one!”

Manchester Save groups held very successful vigils with special guest activist Joey Carbstrong.

Manchester Pig Save report from their January 3 vigil:
“We had such an amazing turnout for a midweek vigil and we bore witness to several trucks full of 6- to 8-month-old pigs, with up to 2,800 beings slaughtered here every day. The more you bear witness to these animals, the more you realise what amazing personalities they all have and how different they are when you interact with them. A huge thank you to all the speakers at the event who helped with the activism workshop. The most important lesson that we were all taught is to take part in activism that you are effective with, we all have our strengths and weaknesses, but never let this stop you from doing activism, just do another form.
Joey gives an amazing account of why it’s so important: ‘Bearing witness is the single most powerful form of activism I’ve ever done. I can’t express this enough as an activist. To be there with a gentle, innocent being as they’re going through their struggle. To witness their suffering, the look of horror and desperation on their face and the only thing you can do to help is to try to tell their story.'” Photos by Saving Me

Manchester Chicken Save report from their January 4 vigil: largest turnout ever!
“Thank you to everyone who joined us today for our first vigil of 2018 at Kosher Poultry with special guest Joey Carbstrong. We had the largest turnout we’ve ever had and hopefully have some new activists who will join us again! No chicken trucks arrived today; however, a large truck full of turkeys arrived. This is the first time we’ve bore witness to turkeys at this slaughterhouse, and it was completely unexpected. They were a lot larger than ‘normal’ slaughter age turkeys so we believe they are either ‘old stock’ or were used for breeding purposes. You don’t need to eat turkeys or any animals to live a happy and healthy life. You can choose vegan and live animal cruelty free. Thanks to the staff at the slaughterhouse who facilitated a peaceful vigil. Keep an eye on our page for our next event.” Photo by Saving Me

Miami Animal Save report from their December 30 Mary’s Ranch slaughterhouse protest: “Another busy day at this hellhole slaughtering baby pigs for #NYE.”

One Love Animal Save Atlanta held their third vigil on January 3 outside of Tip Top Poultry to raise awareness and educate the public.

“When the suffering of another creature causes you to feel pain, do not submit to the initial desire to flee from the suffering one, but on the contrary, come closer, as close as you can to her who suffers, and try to help her.” – Leo Tolstoy
